It is the annual garage sale in our neighborhood. I have learned the hard way not to take my kids with me when I go because they get so caught up in the blatant consumerism that they spend their money on anything just to do it. At least I hope that is why they buy so much junk, I will cling to the belief that they are too young to be practicing in retail therapy...
The good news is I found a new "used" bike for my middle son who usually is stuck with his big brother's hand me downs. It is so great to see him barely get home from school and already be terrorizing the neighborhood speeding all around. I love being known as "that troublesome neighbor".
Well, troublesome neighbor,I used to be known for all the kids riding bikes in front of my house also. Please enjoy now; they will be driving cars before you can blink your eyes.I also had the school secretary and the school librarian living across the street from us. They would aprise me of what my latch-key kids were up to after school whether I wanted to know or not. They meant well though; my children would sometimes do things just to get a rise out of them.
ReplyDeleteI love to yard sale! Glad you found something special for your son!! It is great that you love who you are, and don't fear what others think of you. I think that is a great way to live life! :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy going to garage sale as well. My friend and I have spent countless weekends hunting for bargains. I am happy to hear that you found a bike for your son. It is a good feeling when you find some thing that your son treasures.
ReplyDeleteI remember those days as a child. At times I wonder how my kids will pay me back.
